Cornelia Pierce is a Viennese-born multimedia artist based in Los Angeles. She works with photography, video, collage, and audio-visual live formats, intricately weaving through mythology, textures, and sculptural patterns of nature. Her work unveils a sublime and liminal world where hidden tales and primal memories come to life. Pierce's imagery invites viewers into a contemplative space where the enduring and the fleeting converge.
Her recent focus on the haunting and timeless landscapes of the Sonoran Desert has culminated in her debut book, “Nachtmeer” (Nearest Truth Editions, 2024). Moonlit imagery opens a portal to ancient echoes, delving into themes of ambiguity, transformation, and the symbolic resonance of the American South West while revealing an interior terrain, a deep psychological current beneath the surface.
Also known for her audio-visual collaborations, Pierce creates immersive installations and performances that offer audiences a multi-sensory approach to storytelling. These projects, which blend photography, video, and sound design, explore the interplay of primordial motifs, rituals, and science fiction.
Pierce's photographs, films, and multimedia performances have been exhibited worldwide in magazines, galleries, and festivals focused on film and sound. As a contributor to SHOWstudio, she recently received a Best Experimental Short award at the L.A. Experimental Forum. Her collaborations include projects with musician Lucrecia Dalt and video artist Morgan Beringer. Her collaborative performances and installations have been presented at notable venues, such as The Future Perfect in Los Angeles, MONOM's 4-D sound space in Berlin, and La Casa Encendida in Madrid.
