Prima Materia “Cycle I”
4-D Sound, sensor technology, and HD video

In 2019, Prima Materia was awarded a residency at the 4-D sound space of MONOM at Funkhaus Berlin. During this time we developed a site-specific multimedia performance piece that made use of MONOM’s progressive sonic and sensor technology. We created a fictional storyline in which advanced technology merges with humanoid form, referencing a discourse on the evolution of technology and the human mind. The movement of the body in the space was the link that connected the sonic and visual elements; acting as a conduit to create a preternatural environment. The performance premiered at MONOM in July 2019

“Uncanny Cantina” is an audio-visual live show that draws its inspiration from Colombian tropes and explores stories of gender identity, patriarchy, broken hearts, and crimes of passion. It is the vision of Colombian artist Poison Arrow whose musical output focuses on a re-engagement with the social imagination and mysticism found in Colombian Carrilera music hour-long; regional folk music that emerged from the coffee regions in the northwest of the country.

For “Uncanny Cantina” we collaborated on the creation of videos to provide a contemporary visual interpretation of this unique cultural heritage. The show premiered as an hour-long audio-visual live show in October 2019 at the She Makes Noise Festival at Casa Encendida in Madrid.
